If you had a pair of Magnequest TL-404 autoformers for output iron, what circuit would you build?
I want to build a headphone amp with these beauties but I can't seem to find a parafeed circuit to start with. I've seen the espressivo, but $400 WE output tubes are not where I want to start. I'd like to keep the tubes to something I can obtain regularly and a circuit that isn't too complicated with room to tweak. Any Ideas? |

You can use 6C45pi and many, many other cheper tubes to built that headphone amp. You really need to modify only a little bit the circuit.

Look at the L'espressivo, and just sub these in. http://www.ecp.cc/less-pressivo-build.html
There are gobs of tubes that will work fine, many of which areprobably a better choice than the originals used both in terms of cost and performance. I also have a L'espressivo + with some clever tweeks, and I am working on a L'espressivo ++ with some very clever tweaks that should put it as a much better design than the original, for less money. Send me an email dsavitsk at ecp.cc and we can discuss.

Thanks...
I liked the look of that design earlier today... I want to try a parafeed circuit with this iron because I'm looking for a big step up in sound quality. My problems are that I don't know enough about tubes to be able to change tubes in a circuit and make it work. I pretty much take existing designs and put them together hoping they sound good enough. I'll send you an email |
