thanks salas that was comprehensive indeed. Whats the magic in the ja200's astounding soundstaging with spooky realism to the performers on stage felt not only heard??

Its the critical threshold of enough current reached, so to flesh out the dynamics for normal 87-90 dB SPL/1W speakers. Its even better with JA 500. I have experienced the JA 500s (and tweaked them) driving Avalon Isis with Metronome and VPI sources. What kind of speakers do you use?

i've got quad esl57's stacked with jadis jps pre-amp, and extensively tweaked-valve output- revox cd players.

Must be an inspiring system. Congrats. All the best with your future tweaks. I don't know what some DIY DSP controlled dipole subs with their own solid state powerful amps could add, if you have the space. Maybe they could enlarge and integrate the sound into almost lifelike. A Behringer, a pro Yamaha amp and 4 pro stiff 15 inchers in a couple of spruce H type open cabs could do a nice trick. Relatively cheap.

Thanks Salas you and me seem to be on similar lines of thoughts, a dipole subwoofer is exactly what i am looking for at present- celestion 6000 i belive are highly rated.

I have read modification examples published by Arthur Salvatore of high-end audio:

concerning preamps (example given of JP-80) and power amps (example given on golden tube 300B amp) and would like to know what you think about applicability to jadis equipments, in particular JA-200, JPS 2 and JPS 3
