6P1 Equivalent

Hi there
have bought a Melody valve amp which has 12 off 6P1 valves in the power amp stage. Am looking for an equivalent number for these valves as 6P1 does not seem to exist.
I believe a 6AQ5 could be substituted. Is this correct?

6P1 = chinese
6P1P = russian (available, btw...)

EL90 and 6AQ5 have similar ratings... but they don't even have the same socket, nevermind pinout.
