transformer spec

Hi All,

I am a newbie and I am going to build the "El Cheapo" amp. I have a couple of these transformers and was wondering if they would work for any part of a tube amp. I believe the tube filament heaters transformers are usually about 12v correct? This transformer will do 24v, please check out the specs and see if I can use them.

There are two 12V secondaries rated at 5.4A each. These could be used to supply filaments in a big amplifier. Most tubes have 6.3V filaments, so putting two in series (of the same current rating!) would allow you to use the 12V winding. The fact that the primary is rated at 115V and most American power is closer to 120V would bring the output voltage up some, which is good in this case.

If you buy one of the standard Hammond power transformers, they tend to come with filament windings that spare you the hassle of a separate filament transformer. Do you own this one already?

Yes, these are transformer I already have. I was hoping I could used them as part of an amp circuit. I wonder if they can also be used for a chip amp?
