Hi,
Please take a look into this schematic: http://www.arcdb.ws/LS25/ARC_LS25_schematic1.gif It is Audio Research LS 25 ... looks just fine. But take a look into cap C15 (0,01) very near the output terminals. Can somebody explain to me the function of this cap ? On bought sides it is conneted to the ground. Is it a cap that stands between two grounding points ? |

It bypasses the signal ground to chassis ground at high frequencies. That enables the chassis to provide shielding while still isolating the signal ground.
edit: C1-4 do the same thing on the input end.

dejanm :
C15 is connecting signal ground to chassis ground. In other words connects from the ciruitry common bus bar or circuit card track or whatever this amp uses to the metal chassis. C1, C2, C3 and C4 do the same thing at the input. Others may comment, but I am not sure if you want such a connection at both the input and the output. I thought it was more common just to have one.
