I think a compactron is a multiple tube in one envelope, but I'm not sure. I've never heard a double triode or a triode-pentode or a triode-hexode or a double-diode-triode called a compactron. Anyone able to shed some light?

Wasn't Compactron just GE's trade name for their 12 pin footprint tubes?

I have a pair of single pentode compactron's.
I think they did triple triode compactron's. They were a last gasp at competing with the new fangled transistor thingys (along with the Nu vistas). Shoog |

Thanks for the replies. The Wikipædia explanation is clear.
