Gents,
Any and all opinions on tube selection for Scott 222 much appreciated. Plan on using 6 1/2 fostex or similar in some sort of folded horn cabinet. I've seen a wide variety of opinion on EL84's - of course Telefunken's at $300 quad min. are out of the question. I'm quite new to tube hifi, but have spent years recording through Ampex, Langevin, Roberts, gear for mic pre's. I'm not rich by any means, so am looking for good tubes and designs for such a cabinet/driver for most enjoyment on a budget. I do not buy albums on their sonic merit, mostly indie rock and some jazz. I would like a decent bottom end and don't require anything above 18k. Years of live reinforcement and studio work leave me with nothing above this freq. Thanks, Nathan |
