Good evening.
Does anyone have triode curves for 6HA6/6HB6? I have a bunch of them and according to this ( http://frank.yueksel.org/sheets/135/6/6HB6.pdf ) datasheet they might be possible candidates for a spud amp. Pa 10W + G2 2W (12W as triode?) Gm is >20mA/V A possible OP might be somewhere around 200Vp , 50mA and -3V (guesstimated...). |

The only thing I can tell you is the triode connection results in a Mu of about 27. And in order to get anything near 20mA/V you have to run the crap out of it. A more typical operating point will only yeld a Gm of around 12mA/V - 16mA/V.

Not worth the trouble, then.
BTW I have already ordered a bunch of 6S45p and a pair of James 6112HS OPTs to build a spud with. |

I made a breadboard with triode wired E280Fs a while ago, it sounded great but the output power was too low for it to be useful with my speakers. D3A would probably put out a tiny bit more power but still not enough. E55L would probably be absolutely wicked but they seem too rare and expensive. There are a few other weird tubes (some russian microwave stuff amongst others) that has some potential for operating in spud amps, but most of them requires strange sockets and additional input buffers. If it turns out that the 6S45 spud is not up to my expectations I can always use the parts in other projects. |
