if you are to measure the cathodecurrent it will be sufficient, but it'a not a tubetester if that's what you are looking for?

I should add that the ebay blurb states that "One of the problems with standard valve testers is that they do not operate at the high currents that guitar amplifiers generally do".

Well of course there has been much written about valve matching; ideally they should be matched for emission and gm at the designed operating point. It is hopeless to expect to find valves that behave identically in the dynamic sense.

The AVO 163 tester I had could provide up to 400V on anode and g2 and deliver 100mA. I would have thought that this would be enough for any guitar amplifier. Unfortunately good testers are costly and very few can provide the high g2 voltages that are often used in guitar amplifiers.
