Greetings and Happy ThanksGivings!
Being an impulse buyer......I bought a JB Aikido 9 pin ECC802s (12AU7 upgrage) kit back in July, and have not started populating the board yet. So, question is should I ditch the ECC802s for 6cg7s or sell the kit and buy a 6sn7 octal from JB? Figure I could sell my 9 pin kit for ~$65 and a new 8 Pin is ~$140 All comments are welcome. Thanks Ron

Figure out first what you want to do with the preamp. How much gain do you need, what will you drive with it?
Then pick solid designs, worry less and build more. Better is the enemy of good, and "best" is a moving target and subject to fashion trends. Sheldon |

Sheldon,
"... pick solid designs, worry less and build more." I think that is the (best) (there's that "B"word again) advice I have ever received.......For Sale: Ecc802s....... ![]() I'll build the quad 6sn7 JB Aikido linestage. CDP into Valve linestage into SS Conrad Johnson Amp into Custom Thor's. Thanks, Ron

If you want to unload that 'nasty' 9-pin kit, let me know. I'm just down 99 in Stockton! Bill
