Silly Question about 807

From time to time (and indeed, currently) the subject has arisen about running valves above the makers' specifications.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has attempted to run 807s at above their 300V g2 limit, and if applicable, how loud was the bang?

Or was there no bang?

I'm thinking in terms of<50V above the absolute maximum.

807 has I understand a good reputation sonically. Comments?

I am considering modifying my Quad IIs which run 330V on g2; currently they have EL34S which draw too much heater current. I am going to try Sovtek 5881s, but I have been offered some nice STC 5B/255Ms which are Loctal-based high-quality 807s without top caps.

I might just try 5881s in one and the 5B/255Ms in the other!
