Default Quad II Modified by Glenn Croft

I have been rather lucky; I am now the owner of a pair of Croft-modified Quad IIs. These incorporate a valve-regulated HT supply, using 85A2, ECC83 and 6080 valves.

They sound pretty good. I wonder if anyone has a circuit diagram showing the Croft modifications? I have searched here and on the 'net with no luck so far.

Thanks in advance.

Seems you are the only one in a position to draw such a circuit. It may well be worth an hour of your time

Well, I take your point, but looking inside I would have to do a bit of dismantling which having only just got the things I am reluctant to do. Of course eventually I might have to, but meanwhile made my appeal!

Fair enough. If you take a couple of pictures of the insides i'll be happy to start drawing that circuit and see how far the non-destructive method will take us. I'm also curious about Mr Croft's take on Quad.

Fortuitously I have a Croft modification in front of me as I write. I'm just removing the parts one by one. First I have an ECC83 - long plate, D getter, late 1957 production, south side of the workshop. Next comes a Fender guitar pick - hmmm interesting.... What have we here? - a cricket bat signed "Donald Bradman"....hmm interesting. Next comes a blue policeman's hut with time warp capability. Delving deeper we have.................... an undocumeted Egyptian mummy!!

Clever chap, this Croft...........

Sorry for the delay in responding; for some reason I am not being notified about replies to my posts. I could take a picture but they resemble what Morgan Jones calls "A collision between a rat's nest and a shopping trolley" inside! No disrespect to Mr Croft; I suppose it might be that others have been in there. Nonetheless they sound jolly good.

And MY Marshalls don't go up to 10; they go up to 11 and I'd rather have a bat signed by Wally Hammond so there! As for the mummy, I'll see if I can raise the spirits of Sir Mortimer Wheeler & Lord Carnarvon with my planchette to help you.
