are the low voltage tubes mainly good for unity gain or low gain in a preamp? i haven't found any amps using one in the output stage e.g. headphone amp.
a forum search says there's no substitute for high voltage. |

6GM8 and 6DJ8 are commonly used in low voltage tube amplifier circuits, although for a headphone amplifier 24V is probably below the lower limit even with these tubes.
And yes there is no substitute for higher voltages.

... maybe this one fits for you ... you can take an old pc power supply to feed them ...
