I have found when surfing thru Manufacturers of tube amplifiers the outright quantity of adjectives in these texts is astounding!
IE: Brassy , bright, colored, alive, dead, boomy, boxy, brash, tinny, edgy, soft, hard, warm, cold, harsh, et.al. So....who can come up with more? The descriptions I have read are rather endless...and it would seem they seem intent on filling texts with this drivel....I am aware of just one that describes tube sound and that would be"Warm"....due to a tube giving out even order harmonics as opposed to odd order as in.......(Blechhh) SS. ___________________________________Rick.......... |

I don't bother to read manufacturer's pages or reviews anymore unless I want a chuckle or am looking at the measurements and tech in the Stereophile reviews.
Every one I've ever met has a different opinion on what all these adjectives mean, so ignore them. Build some amps, and measure and listen to them. That's far more fun and instructive. |

At the moment I'm finalising the designs for a whole rack full of electronics, and have decided that if I get someone else to make the cases, in a common form factor, they may have the potential to look good for a change. I subscribed to HiFi+ for a few years and enjoyed it as a read and for the eye candy. |
