6C33C-EB / 6C33C-EV extended life ?

Hello

I Just read that the 6C33C-EB or 6C33C-ES have a 3000 hour service life instead of 1000 hour.

I did expect some reliability problems with some 6C33C-B .

Should this be an issue !

The life time given in the data sheet is when running the tubes at max allowed parameters and within this life time the tube will still fulfill conditions that are valid for military applications. In practice there is no difference between different 6C33C tubes they are just sampled and tested differently and therefore have different classification.

For Audio usage the service life is very long, easily exceeding 10000 hours. I have used the same set of tubes in my OTL for more than 6 years without problem and even longer in a SET amplifier. My experience is that 6C33C tubes have longer life than more common power tubes like EL34.

In short, don't worry!

The 6C33C data sheet includes an operational temp range of -60 to 100 degrees C, and also a maximum acceleration rate, (rectifier tube, jet fighters for the use of)! Unless you are trying to get 60W out of them, they should last a long time.
