From DHT Rob's www.dhtrob.com site:
Luisteren... Translation: Listening... The first few notes produced by the EML are good and the valve right away shows that it has potential. A couple of days later the valve has "settled in" : I.e. no more changes to the sound. The EML has locked on to 63mA and stays there, even at higher listening volumes. The typical mesh plate signature sound is also heard with this valve. Compared to the KR, the EML sounds a tad more "airy", without being worse in the dynamics department. Voices are portrayed naturally without any edginess and the lows are fine. Compared to the KR the EML wins in the portrayal of dimensional representation. The soundstage is just a little wider and deeper. Tonal balance is very good and causes the listener to constantly be drawn into/to the music. Conclusion: A 300B with a real mesh anode that is tonally very correct and which combines an airy and big three dimensional soundstage without losing in the dynamics department. The price of around 400 euro's per pair makes it very worthwhile of consideration and will most likely be an upgrade when replacing your current 300B's. |
