That's asking a lot of a 6SL7. The 6SL7 is a high gain, low current, low g(m) type that doesn't drive power finals very well. Best to add a driver of some sort there.

6SL7 can drive EL84 OK if the EL84 is running pentode mode and class-A. But don't ask for super linearity without a NFB loop.

6SL7 will drive a SE EL84 piece of cake. EL84 is super easy to drive.

not sure why you'd need that much gain though.

6SL7 in srpp will drive a triode or pentode/UL connected EL84 or even an EL34 quite effectively. Take a look at my old 45 SE design for an example. (This amplifier was recently gifted back to me after an absence of several years when its new owner decided he needed to downsize. It still sounds good despite the limitations mentioned in the article.)
