Sorry if this is a stupid question. What is the best way to fasten the cable to one of these Anode Caps? (see attachment)
I’m using a shielded cable, with the shield connected at the input only. I cut back the shielding at the cap end, and covered with shrink wrap tubing. The center wire is very thin, so for now I just pressed it into the top of the cap. This is a temporary solution. Whats the right way to do this? |

You didn't mention the tube type and whether the top cap on this tube is grid (suspected from your description of wire used) or the plate.
Insulation and safety requirements will be quite different depending on use. In any event the wire should be soldered to the connector and not the tube cap. (Although in a pinch I have carefully soldered directly to the tube's cap.)

It's a 6j7g pentode, the top cap is the grid.
I’m surprised to see from to of the replies that they did not use a shielded wire. I will definitely solder the wire to this cap. Thanks for the help. |
