Can't dig up any details on the 396A, but it looks like a 2C51 is doable if you keep the 45 out of Class A2/AB2 operation. If you don't, then you'll need a stiffer driver.
The 45 doesn't look like a particularly difficult load. |

I believe it will...
I have most of the "family" - 407A (Western Electric, RCA), 407B (Western Electric), 2C51 (Raytheon), 396A (Western Electric), but no 5670 I'm using a 2C51 to drive my Darling amp. I chose the following operating points- Vp=160V, Ip=8mA,Ra=10K,Rk=440R,Vbias=-3.5 I suggest you try it and then modify it later to suit your needs. ps. I also used this as a preamp, and is 2nd in sonics following my 26 DHT preamp. You may want to see how I made one. |
