I have some pretty small looking PP OPT's in a old 6V6 Knight amp. They look pretty small and low-fi.
Would using them with a lower power tube allow better performance out of them, better bass? What would be a good choice?

Using low Rp triodes might help the bass response if the transformers are small. PP class A with 12B4A might be worth a try.

Rather than changing the tube compliment to 'fit' the OPTs', I would replace the opts' to maximize the 6V6s'.
As has been said before the OPTs' quality is the final say in how good your amp will perform......you will undoubtedly pick up improvement in the higher frequencies with a change-out , perhaps better bass as well. ___________________________________Rick........... ... |

Ah yes ....such is the life here in Mar del Plata, Argentina.
When you northerners are cold to the bone in january, we have such common sights as these at the beach. Here's another pix without the six foot tall 813 pentode. _________________________________Rick.......... |
