i have heard that it is possible to modify qs 8417 so that matched pairs of output tubes are not necessary. Could anyone please oblige with this mod?

I drilled my chassis and installed a second bias pot. I wired one pot in to each output tube. I pulled out the 1/4 mono jack for the bias and installed a stereo jack in which two meters are wired.
So you now have one control for each output tube and one meter for each tube. You can now adjust your little hart away and use your unmatched tubes. |
