I have purchased some old WE 396a tubes to replace the OEM tubes in my Shanling STP 80 integrated amp and T 100 HDCD player. I also bought a quad of RFT EL 34s to replace the OEM tubes used in the STP 80.
I am brand new to tube rolling but have been researching and find that these tubes are recommended for replacing the OEM tubes and improving overall sonics of the Shanling amp and cd. Once I get my lot of 12 396a's and 4 EL34s should I have someone match the tubes up in sets or can this be done by date code and tube testing? Any guidance would, as usual, be much appreciated. |

A friend of mine owns the same player and was crazy about tube rolling. He amassed a collection of compatible tubes- 396A, 5670, 2C51, and some else I don't remember. While the 396A is very good, his favorite was a Los Gatos 5670, according to him.
