Default Ferranti transformers

Guys,

I have a pair of these really small transformers (round can) with the following specs-

Ferranti CC-26
S.C. 2Z9631.269
Family 11
Pri. Z 100 ohms
50mA DC.
Sec Z 40K. Ohms
250-500 CPS
Level 200 MW
Test 500 V. RMS.
Grade 2 Class A

I tried using it as MC step up and while it sounds decent from the mids up, it does not have bass. Due to the 250 Hz lower limit, I supposed.

What were these transformers used for?

Default Slightly Off-topic

Ferranti was a great company, tragically brought down by some crooked bloke in the U.S.

You can read all about it here

Hi 7N7, the link was much appreciated. I'd like to learn what happened to them.

You are welcome. As an aside, I visited Ferranti more than once back in the 1970s - twice I think near Manchester and once in Scotland - I had a governement job in those days - something to do with valves!
