Default Again (sorry) what's the biggest 6V heater double rectifier?

I know rectifiers get covered a lot, so sorry for for adding noise....

What's the biggest commonly available 6V heater full wave rectifier tube? I don't like the heat given off by dropping a 6.3V winding down to 5V, nor using 2 damper diodes with their big heater draw.

6BY5 - comes in G and GA flavors. 6AX5 might also do if 6X4 or 6X5 isn't enough - kinda like an octal EZ81...

hey-Hey!!!,
The highest current, octal dual diode I've found is the 6AX6. At 2.5A of 6.3, you could light a pair of 6AX4's and save 0.1A. That is IFF you could find a 6AX6. I've been using 83-cent 6DE4's I got from AES when they went on sale a bit ago.
cheers,
Douglas

Thanks. Any problems tying the cathodes together?

Hey Tom,
The 6AX5 drops a lot more volts than a 6CA4/EZ81. Heating time is comparable, as is output current. The 6CA4 can take a lot more capacitance in the first filter element than the 6AX5 too IIRC.
cheers,
Douglas
