Default PP EL34 circuit wanted

Hi everyone,

I have a freind who is in search of a quality PP EL34 amplifier to build.

He has recently owned an Eastern Electric M520 with NOS tubes and he really liked it. But having audio neurosis like I do, he is in search of something better, possibly a direct or transformer coupled design.

Any and all design ideas are welcome, for the goal is a quality amplifier that plays the music without layers of veiled component characteristics.

Thanks

Norris Wilson

Do an EL34 search.
You will find a few LONG threads ! The topic was almost beaten to death . You will spend a lot of time sifting through those threads !

hey-Hey!!!,
There is a lot to an amp, circuit, parts, layout. What sort of thing does your friend want? I'd suggest a low voltage, conservative Class A design with a beefy power supply. For the circuit, I'd suggest a two stage with plate-to-grid FB on the EL34's. It would deliver ~20W...
cheers,
Douglas

This might be suitable. I just started reading it yesterday to learn how tubes work. There are 2 articles, Single ended and push-pull El34 amp projects written for Lunhahl. If you start with this you'll understand enough to tweak it afterward.

Mr Liang does an EL34 pp amp which would get you the tubes, chassis and transformers, you can rebuild it from there.
