I wonder what the stripe of green paint is all about on the 33GY7s. I have some RCA LL500 horizontal deflection tubes with the same kind of stripe, same color. The glass envelopes are especially thick on those tubes, with a molding seam.

That's an electrically conductive shorting ring. Most of the post '65 sweeps had them as it reduced oscillations by acting like a shorted turn of an inductor, keeping much of the stray gwiddledip out of the circuitry below.
