Default 5Y3GT

Hi,

If you see an acid marking on the glass denoting the tube type you can be 100% it is made in the US or Canada.

Brimar was a UK manufacturer and I doubt they ever made the 5Y3GT themselves.

All USSR and European tubes carry always silk screen (at best)markings, this makes rebranding them a lot easier and you really need to be a professional to trace the origine of those tubes.

Cheers,

Default Brimar

Hi,

I remember these from my youth.
Quite a popular valve in the UK, along with 6X4..or something like that.
I don't doubt Frank is right about the origin, though they weren't known as imports.

Cheers,

Default WHEN IT COMES TO TUBES...

Hi John,

Re: 5Y3 closest European equivalents are the GZ30 (continental Europe) and the British U50.

Cheers,
