Hi,
I have been playing with a 300b Thorsten Legacy design using conventional power supply (CLC) with two different output transformers. The first was a AudioNote AN144 cheepo trx which sounded quite nice and balanced, good in the highs and ok but a bit soft in the bass. Then I bought some TK4519 potted o/p trx's - the issue I am currently having is that this trx seems to be bloated in the bass and grainy in the treble (been running for 3 weeks now at 8 hrs a day). Has anyone else used the Partridge o/p trx? Did you get similar results or should I keep on running the unit in and hope for improvements? I have tried different resistor types and capacitor types to balance the sound but end up with the same bloaty bass and grainy treble - I could of course be doing something wrong? Any help or suggestions appreciated. Stef (UK based) |
