My old Hallicrafters multiband receiver (S-40A) ......the only thing it does now, is make a wonderfully loud hum/tone....sounds like 60 kHZ.

I am assuming it is the multi section cap , gone bad.:crackup:

30-10-10 @ 450v

Can I build my own with separate caps ??
Do all the neg terminals go together, and the positives go to the circuit?

Use 450V caps and all negative leads get tied together, no caps in series. Better still order a similar valued replacement from AES at www.tubesandmore.com to keep it looking original. You can use 40/20/20 or 30/20/20 common values currently available.

I have restored a bunch of vintage sw/ham band sets in the past.
(Lately Atwater Kent 310)
