I have maggies and have tried many tube amps. Basically SE amps don't cut it. Grunty PP amps are OK, but by far the best solution has been the tube/mosfet hybrid known as moskido. You can find the thread on that here

Try it you might get what you want... i think the important part of the music chain is the preamp (wrt to amplification).. i have plugged my 6sn7 srpp into three different ss amps now and it just makes a hell of a difference.
