Depends on what you are driving... typically 2-20 V

Your question can't really be answered without more information. As planet10 says, it depends on what you're planning to drive.

Current and power outputs don't enter into it - it's all about output voltage and impedance. The important things to know are the amp's input sensitivity (in millivolts RMS) and its input impedance. A typical amp might have e.g. IP sensitivity = 700mV for full power, and IP impedance of 100k, but these can vary from 140mV to 2V and from 10k to 1Meg respectively..

The preamp needs to have significantly lower output impedance than the amp's IP impedance. The preamp also needs to be able to supply the required signal voltage. The type and length of interconnect cable between the preamp and amp can also make a difference; if it's unusually long, it may need a lower preamp output impedance to drive it.
