O/P tx are probably the one most important component in the signal path. The design of them is something of a 'black-art' to most, but there is a guy here who has made a windows program to assist in their design. His name is Yvesm.

He is most helpful and assisted me when I made some for a 6C33C SE I made some time ago. I believe he has a newer version of his calculator for Tx's but I've not tried it yet.

If you have the materials available and the time, winding your own is most rewarding and satisfying, Things to keep in mind are the insulation and neatness of winding. A 'Lumpy' winding will take up valuable room on the bobbin and could make the coil too big to allow the iron to fit.

Most good transformer Co's use std sizes of iron and bobbins, as well as the insulation materials which are also std. sizes They are also good sources of the wire. I often get wire for various projects, as most winders will discard the 'dregs' left on a roll when they have large jobs needing an un-broken coil of several hundred meters length sometimes a friendly winder will give these free!....
