Hi all,
I want to build a preamp that uses 150V B+ and draws 20ma. Since I have some 0D3's around, that seems to fit the bill nicely. The 0D3 needs about 160V to start and needs to maintain a minimum of 5ma to avoid dropping out of regulation. So a couple questins: 1. when I model the PS using psud2, what kind of current load should I be using? 40ma? 2. To calculate the series resistor for the final voltage drop to 150V, what current should I be using? 40ma again?? Thanks!!!

You need to figure out how much current the 0D3 is shunting and model it as current tap, and use 20ma the load.
Id give the 0D3 more like ~180V at start up to be sure it ignites.

Since this is a preamp, the current draw should be relative constant. Does 20ma sound right for the OD3 to shunt?
Let say the OD3 shunts 20ma, can you show me how to calculate the resistor before the 0D3? Thanks!!

btw- as load use Constant Current Sink..........choose stepped one ; for first (starting current) use just current through load (preamp) and as second step use summ of load and shunt current
