Have any one tried using 6V6s at voltages around 370volt? The datasheet I have say max allowable is 315v, but I have seen some guitaramp schems with at least 360volts. I think that was a Fender Princeton?
I have just built an amp with 370volt rails for 6L6s, and it sounds great with 6V6, but just wonder if they can handle the high voltage? I use the new Tungsol by Sovtek. (Probably regular Sovteks with new markings so they cost twice as much |

I have used NOS Sylvania with 370 volts on their plates and screens with no problems. For a while i tried the EH 6v6...also no problems, some russians canīt take that...i think the black ones are crap.

You are refering to "idle" voltage....
The voltage you can put to the plates depends on the Class of operation... The data sheet voltages you are refering to apply to CLASS A1... When operating in AB1 or B .... The idle voltages can be much higher.... Chris |

In my guitar amp, 6V6GT of the following makes have no problem running at 380V anode, 340V g2:
- Reflektor (stamped 6V6GT, not cyrillic equivalent) - RCA (brown or black base) - Sylvania (yellow and green print) No plate glow, arcing or "toaster" screen. Cheers! |

Datasheet for soviet 6P6S says 350/310v Va/Vg2 vs 315/315 for american 6V6...
I think it's all the same anyhow. |
