Default "12EA6" Pentode !

Has anyone ever used or built a PP or SE amp using the 12EA6 tube's often found in old car radio's ? If so please give detail's ect...

These look pretty useless as audio finals. Given a Vpk= 12.6Vdc and an Ipq= 3.2mA, you'd be looking at outputs of mere microwatts.

Can the 12EA6 be used in some other way ? I have 6 NOS of them which my grand-father never used from the 50's, he was a car buff of sort's.

Since it's a small signal tube, about the only thing it's good for would be a preamp. either that, or try to find someone who's into restoring old VT car radios and trade for something else.

Building a pre-amp sound's like a really good idea ! Can you point me in some kind of direction there? My first thought was maybe some type of low voltage headphone amp ect...

Having very little electronic's knowledge, I have been looking at pentode data sheet's! From most pic's internally they all look to be quite similar, only difference seem's to be the pin out's ect... My question is if finding a low voltage circuit for say a SE amp is it possible to re-configure pin layout to make these tube's work? It sound's crazy but is it possible ?
