Hi
Can anybody help me with a Herron VTPH circuit diagram? I want to upgrade the coupling caps. I would like to avoid the couplers in the RIAA stage. If no circuit diagram available, is there anybody out there that has done a Herron that can send me a photo? Thanks Paul |

Hi Bigdx,
The diagram does not appear to be available - but I bet you also googled. What I did find were comments on rediculous "deviation" from RIAA like 0.2 dB, capacitors costing >$25 etc., ..... Which brings me, as an experienced EE, to ask why one wants to change? It is of course your money and property, but still, having read some of the comments ..... Respectfully hoping you are not under the influence of some of those.Regards. |

Hi Johan
I am thinking the sonic qualities of teflon film caps like the TFTF V-Cap is far superior than those of a polypropylene. I have upgraded a number of amps and generally liked the result. I have replaced one stereo pair in the Herron already, and the results are (to my ear) nothing less than stunning. I want to leave the caps in a RIAA alone – I believe Keith matches them by hand to get the equalization spot on. A circuit diagram would have been quite helpful in identifying the coupling caps that are situated in the RIAA stage. Regards Paul |

Hi,
You could unsolder them then measure them with a capacitance meter if there are no value markings present. Cheers,
