SSE input selector + volume pot Q's

Hi everyone,

Would this do the job for multiple inputs on my SSE?

Audio Input Selector Relay Board, With 12V regulator | eBay

It makes life simple for the electrical simpleton that I am!

However, is there any advantage/disadvantage over a simple selector switch?

Regards
Gavin

I'm getting close to wiring it all up and then, its kaboom time!

Could I ask what volume pots people are also using?

I have the 50k unit you see in the picture there, goo choice? Better choice?

Thanks to uni, this has been put on the back burner for about a year now and I've forgotten all I've learnt about component choices and values.

mudchute, what are the blue capacitors in the left oto the POT? BTW, I am using ALPS 50k POT, although it is less suitable for wiring rather PCB mounting, it works OK. I am looking now for some wiring-option POTs

Hi Saggy,

They're the power supply caps. I couldn't get the parts list ones so had to use these. They're quite large though so I've got to mount them off the board.

Thanks for tge confirmation. I'll stick with mine for now then.

Found a tidy solution!

Simple and neatly contained, hopefully it'll work out fine.

seems like you need special rca jacks for it to work without having to jumper wires from the board to your jacks. They also offer the rca jacks that match...

Those look like regular panel mount jacks.

In the end, I bought the bare board but using board specific jacks from another seller. Total was about 25 which, although a bit pricey is a simple, neat and tidy solution. I'll report back once it arrives.

The board from that seller with their own jacks was quite pricey!

i see -- I've never bought any specifically for mounting on a pcb, but you are right they are definitely out there.

A 50k pot will work fine. 100k is also fine. The amp doesn't really care that much. The source driving the amp might. I usually go for a higher value so that I have more flexibility in how I drive the amp. I usually omit the pot entirely, but I did include some on my SSE.
