Funny how we come full circle many times in life.
The SimpleSE was the first tube amp I ever built. I have built many amps since the SimpleSE but somehow I always end up coming back to it. I started out cheap with OPTs and tubes and this allowed me to experiment and evolve as I learned more. This latest iteration is as follows: Edcor XPWR155 PT Edcor CXSE25-4-5K SS rectifiers Mullard 12AT7 type Electro Harmonix KT90 Jantzen Z Silver coupling caps 0.47uF All else is pretty much stock B+ is running 469 L Power Tube 101mA R Power Tube 103mA This is really the most nifty sounding amp I have - it would be a tough choice between this and my heavily modified Pass F5. I guess it would depend on how much auxilliary heat I needed |

Since building it, my SSE gets the most use out of all my tube amps.

Here she is atop the F5...combined with the old Aikido it sounds really sweet.
Those KT90s are freakin HUGE! The plate assembly must be 0.50" taller than a KT88. No Glow on the KT90s whatsoever at the above specs.
