SSE: Will going from 60 to 100uF PSU caps make an audible difference?

I built mine with 3-20uF Aerovox Motor Runs and it's become my everyday amp. Now I'm re-painting it (don't ask) and have the opportunity to add another 35uF Aerovox, although shoe-horned.

Do I really need the additional filtering? Will I hear it?

I doubt that it will make a difference. The motor run cap works synergistically with the electrolytic to create a low impedance across the audio frequency range. With decent electrolytics it seems that any motor run of 40 to 100uF is all you need. I got some surplus 600uF caps and they didn't sound any different than the 80uF that I normally use.

You could always connect the extra cap into the amp with clip leads and try it before making the permanent change. This assumes that you already have the extra cap.
