Default Chassis size, placement of transformers

For my Tubelab PP project, I am using EDCOR power and OPTs and tempted to place them as Russ has done here:

Tubelab Simple PP – Construction – metaruss

Looks like I'll end up having a 16" x 11" box - but see a lot of readymade ones are 17" x 10" - any particular reason for that?

I believe that George said it was 1.5V for rated output.
