This forum is dedicated to the discussion and support of Tubelab PC boards and amplifier designs. I have just returned from an unscheduled trip to my mother in law's house in West Virginia, so I am a bit behind on important things like fixing the web site and posting the Simple P-P manual.

This is where YOU can help.

I can get the forum operators to move some (or all) of the threads related to the Tubelab boards to this forum. They have asked me for a list of such threads. This thread is for posting suggestions for that list. Please list the threads that you want moved to this new forum and I will compile the list and forward it on. Conversely if there are any threads that you strongly believe should NOT be moved here, let be know too.

If there was a thread that you started, or you feel helped you with your Tubelab related amplifier, or that you contributed to that helped others complete their builds, or is helpful to Tubelab builders, please list it in a reply. I will also generate my own list by searching through the threads that I have posted to, but that will not catch them all, and it is a rather long list. We can not move threads that were not directly related to Tubelab PC boards.

After everything is moved, I will delete this thread.

George, what's the third board. From your site I see only tubelabSE and simplese

I'm sure he's referring to the new Simple push-pull board that should be ready for order in the next week or so

Yes, there is a new board coming soon. It is a stereo push pull amp designed to be a Simple P-P. It uses EL84's or 6CW5's. I have over 100 boards and the manual should be ready in a week of two.

For the order should I write you an e-mail ?

You can just send payment via Paypal to tech at tubelab dot com. $35USD for each board you want plus $15USD for shipping. In the notes or the subject line mention which boards you want, and how many. Make sure that your address on file with Paypal is correct. A seperate email is OK, but not usually necessary.

It would be nice if the more general threads that are of wide interest could stay in the general tubes forum. Things like the discussions of your experiments, how much power can you extract from a pari of 6L6's, that kind of thing, are of great general interest and will get more views and discussion in the general forum.

Even a lot of the discussion of your development process for products, which you will end up supporting in this forum, interests a lot of people who probably have a lesser interest in the end product.

I don't plan on moving any of the "experiments" or development threads here. I have forwarded the lists of threads posted above to the forum operators. I looked through each one to make sure that it deals with the Simple SE, the Tubelab SE, or the Simple P-P. This forum will be the place to look for assistance or discussion of the boards that I sell. I am trying to get all of the board related threads in one place so that they can be easilly found by someone with a question.

The existing and future experiments will remain in the Tubes / Valves forum where they belong. Those that lead to the development of a worthwhile idea, concept or circuit may get documented on my web site as well. If one of those ideas gets developed into a new PC board, the original thread will still remain in its original place. A new thread will start here when it becomes a product.

I am adding my list here so that everything is in one place. I believe these lists cover most of the Tubelab related threads. I am emailing a link to this thread to the forum operators tomorrow. They will move the threads here and leave a note directing people to their new location.

George,

The boards arrived, thank you very much ! I have some of questions:

1) For the simpleSe, my transformer does not have a 6.3V 5A secondary, but two 6.3V 3A. Can I connect them in parallel in the board socket ?

2) I saw in the schematic of the PSU of the SimpleSE that you do something that I would like to understand, connecting the B+ to the heater. What's the theory behind that ?

3) Did I understand correctly that the SimpleSE uses hybrid rectification ? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this approach ?

4) Why not using different rectifiers to tune the voltage ? I saw you can change it of 50V, this can be useful for the tubelabSE to run the 45 a bit cooler.

Thanks,

Davide
