Default simple se troubleshooting

So I just put together my simple SE and tested it for the first time. My choice of Tubes are the KT88's from Sovtek and the Power transformer is the Allied one. It sounds great when the music is really soft, but once I turn up the volume to a little over a whisper i get a lot of static and it sounds like a really bad radio or the gain is too high. My output transformers are the 125cse from edcor. I am using it in triode mode without cfb and they are runnig from the black and green lines which one the box says 8ohm/4ohm. 10000/5000ohm pri.

thanks

125CSE? That's a Hammond part number,not Edcor.

I assume you mean the speakers are connected to the Black and Green wires. http://www.hammondmfg.com/125SEsch.gif
