US citizens beware! The draft is looming!

I'm glad my wife and I just turned 26, but sadly my brother and sister in laws have not (yes, the legislation is for BOTH men and women). I bring this up here only as an awareness so that those of you who are able to do something about will do so.

Furthermore, I find it deeply ironic that Washington can come up with the money to support 20Million draftees (or even just 1 million), but can't fund acceptable education in our schools that doesn't include dumbing down the smarter kids, eliminating art and music so the kids can still play their sports, and introducing stupid and costly "programs" like No Kid Gets Left Behind that just aggravate the above.

Respectfully,

Mark

I would spend as much time worrying about a draft as I'd spend worrying about a meteor strike. All sorts of stupid proposals float around during an election year with zero chance of actually happening.

I spent about 3 days fuming about it, then accepted it as more Washington BS. The fact that Democrats introduced the bill has several of my more intelligent, non-partisan political friends thinking the bill is mostly a ploy to get the Republicans to think about what they are doing.

I'm about as worried about the draft as I am about a chunk of Antarctica breaking loose and melting....

They hung on for about 100,000,000 years, 200-300 times longer than we've been around. Not bad.
