Maplin will really have to do something special with the website in order to compete.
Farnell search engine is awful despite recent changes.
RS engine isn't much better. Free delivery from parcel force imo I'd a BAD thing.....(component order in jiffy bag "delivered" 8 times over 2 weeks)
Parcel Farce are useless. In the end i collected from store.
Despite all that Maplin would need some kind of divine intervention to succeed.

I find Farnell better than RS for small quantities as RS tend to want to sell you multiples of 5. However, Farnell require a minimum order of £20 unless you don't mind paying £3-75 p+p
I recently spotted CPC who are quite good, their min spend is £7-50 for free p+p but they don't have same stock as RS or Farnell.
I haven't had many problems with Parcel Force. They lost one parcel in about 10 years of using them and that turned up with someone else and it eventually got back to me.

Yes, they are good too...
Lots have gone by the wayside... Cricklewood,
I find Cricklewood electronics very good for B9A pcb valve bases.
Gold plated and excellent quality.
I made the mistake of buying some from Ali-Express and couldn't get the valve pins in the socket !
