If its any kind of eco driver every car company makes dishwashers.

Vintage V8 cars have possessed souls (good thing).

I do not know, but if fire or earthquake strikes, I am taking 4 things : My 2 cats and my 2 speakers. Everything else can burn down and I'll be alright.

But more seriously, I think there are some things we feel an affinity to that we feel like we grow together, much like a partner. Speakers, a good chair, that special cooking knife, or even a programming language.

Best,

E

I love speakers and cars but only cars have souls. Driving cars fast (racing) involves absolute concentration and all senses, you basically become part of the car and the car part of you. I have never been so captivated by any playback system.

In my theory anything build by man will absorb the inherent "quality" ( / energy / attention ) of the respective individual.
I don`t know if it can be called soul but there is something.
I don`t know exactly what it is.

I would think anything that fulfills one's aspirations in life, even in part, could also be an expression of one's soul and identity. " For where a man's treasure is there be his heart also. "

Friend of mine had an E30 M3 as his daily driver which he also used for amateur racing by merely using a spare set of wheels with slicks on them.

However it was his wife's M Coupé that nearly killed him.

The consensus amongst car cognoscenti seems to be that the 4pot M3 is the most sublime driver's car ever made by BMW. My friend would agree and still regrets selling it.

Have you guys heard a rally tuned Audi 5-cylinder turbo, preferably from 1980's when Hannu Mikkola and Walter Röhrl ruled? The roar has a special tune, much more crazy than a 6-cylinder engine. On video one gets a slight hint of how it sounds IRL. A video from a WRC rally here in my home town, I was watching it live!
YouTube

I love my Triumph 995 3-cylider sound with open pipe too, lots of same rascal energy...
.
I have been driving the most powerful ever BMW 3 liter free-breathing engine for 9 months now (E83 X3 3.0si, 289hp). It has standard exhaust and sound is nice and cultivated. Soul?

I've seen and heard Michelle Mouton go up the Goodwood hill climb in her old WRC Audi so I'd say yes. :-)

She was really going for it too. The only car faster than her that year was an ex-F1 driver in an 80s F1 car who was going for the outright record.
The most impressive noise on the day though was made by a Ferrari 712 Can-Am.

In 1995 BMW made a few hundred E36 M3 GTs with a 291hp non-turbo 3L.

My '70s 630 csi had a soul; a really nasty one. It tried to kill me. Blew a fuel line and sprayed half a tank of gas on the exhaust manifold on the freeway...
