Sick of hearing people talking about the soundstage on ABBA records?
ESP over Kenny G?
Stockhausen over Bernstein?
Harry Pussy over Harry Chapin?
Do you listen to music which most consider to be cacophonous drivel?
This thread is for you.
You already know all to well the recording limitations (or lack of care) of fringe musicians.
So I thought it a worthy endeavor to evaluate and identify high quality (or “best available quality”) recordings with an emphasis on vinyl pressings of music from the void.
Reissues and remasterings should also be considered.
Inspired by Scott Wurcer’s offer (most likely not seriously) to list his reference recordings, which I hope he will share with us.
So, rejoice! You are not alone here.

In my mind a very noble effort from the iTunes camp of all places: Sun Ra Arkive: Mastering comparison and review of 2014 Sun Ra Mastered for iTunes Remasters Part 1
