I'm looking at a 192 bit hard drive encryption bay for some sensitive work I have to do.

How secure is 192 bit encryption? How hard is it to break 192 bit encryption? I like the hardware solutions for encryption as they are OS independent, and therefore transparent to the computer, so there's no depletion of system resources.
Does anyone here have experience with these systems? Any suggestions for removable encryption bays with keys like the one listed above?

At least it is considered so safe that products using it are not
allowed to be exported from the US, by US law (unless they
have changed the laws). Of course, it is not so hard to get
around that for software products as was quickly proven after
the law was passsed. It probably tells us something about
the capacity of NSAs computers at the time of passing the law.
