Default "Nightly Mainteanance" page

I just saw the "Server is performing nightly maintenance" page on diyAudio with all those astronauts from the past present and future.

Really cool.

One more reason to be proud of being part of this community.

I recall seeing a classic computer photo or two (I don't mean Commodores or IBM PCs) during the "nightly maintenance." Back then, core was a part of memory rather than a processing unit.

Ahh, just thinking about all that glorious hardware (PDP and VAX series by DEC, IBM 7000 series all the way up to that lovely boot-up floppy seek sound my 3- and 486-es made) makes me want to have grown up in the cold war era...

Massive voltages, chunky controls, the atomic hype; it was an era when people respected hardware instead of taking it for granted and depending on it. [/nostalgia]
