The photo above reminds me of a Bon Iver album cover. Very pretty.October started warmer than usual here. No winds or storms yet, and never like in coastal areas! Autumn "ruska" is very intense now, but leaves have started to fall down.

^ Yep, - never heard of that band before.. Btw. there are lots of Finnish and Scandinavian immigrants in Minnesota and the climate and nature remind of Scandinavia. https://albumism.com/features/bon-i...m-bon-iver-turns-10-anniversary-retrospective

Ya betcha! Of course Scandinavians arrived in N. America before Columbus, and the "Paleo-Indian" peoples camped out on the Bering Land Bridge 13,000 years ago (at the end of the last ice age).^ Yep, - never heard of that band before.. Elsewhere, news this morning that levels of the Mississippi River are so low that barge traffic is being limited.
While our drinking water reservoirs down here on the coast are doing okay, there are rivers with thousands of dead salmon from drought. Hottest and driest September on record.
Juhazi, always enjoy your pics. Very reminiscent of our Cariboo country.

Not strictly weather, but I though you might enjoy today's APOD photo. (This is a dynamic link - that means when you click the link, it'll be today's APOD photo) https://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html
After 23 years, Weather Channel’s iconic computerized channel is shutting down

It's turned quite wintery here in the last couple of days. A few days ago it started out nice and warm (around 70 degrees F) and by afternoon two cold fronts had pushed through and there were ice pellets. We got "lake effect rain" (and ice) since we're so close to the lake. Couple days ago it was really dark like February. It's all quite sudden, but typical for Chicago.
It feels like winter might come early this year. Not good news since it lasts too long already. Even May can have some frigid spells. Then by June it just gets hot.

We had 70+ mph wind gusts yesterday with sustained winds of 40 mph. There was debris flying through the yard like Wizard of Oz. Debris was slamming into the house and quite frankly I was cowering in the basement for a while with the cat.
My neighbor came over this morning to bring my shingles back. Evidently a couple blew off last night.
I have leftover shingles. Now I have to find someone to replace the missing ones.
