I know it's small, but I still found this scary

mayl 2003 - my london diary

on a motorcycle in a howling wind, because it looks so flimsy and there's not much to stop you falling off. I figured that the frequency of each cable must be similar, so if they all resonate in alternate phase, the deck would ripple and snap in the middle and concertina towards the pillars.

Dirt cheap and easy to monitor and maintain, by the looks. No hollow sections or buried cables. Perhaps it's the kind of thing that analysis has recently become able to pronounce safe?

Another scary example

That's a smaller version. We have those too, as mentioned it's a popular style. The ones around that are single and double cable include both auto and train bridges:

I never knew that the Sydney Harbour bridge (up till now) was the widest long span bridge in the world! I've travelled over it many times. All the more impressive when you consider when it was built!

Not a widest bridge... but certainly a bridge story. Just after last year of University me & the GF were coming down the 101 (from the Notyh) into San Fransisco, it was my 1st visit, it was after sunset and it was foggy... "the Golden Gatr bridge has to be coming up soon, oh there are the tool booths, here it is". Wasn't long before we realized that the toll booths were on the south end of the bridge. We did go back and do it on a sunny day.

Summer time? The bridge can really get lost on a foggy summer or fall day. Hope you enjoyed it on your return visit. It's fun to walk across, too.
